Regional Bio Security

To strengthen the bio security measures you undertake on your property consider starting bio security meetings and activities to promote bio security at the regional level. Through this collaborative approach, bio security threats to all properties in your region can be minimized. Potential sources of bio security threats may be neighboring farms (whether producing grain, livestock or undertaking other activities), native vegetation, and garden and roadside plantings. Implementation of farm bio security underpins regional bio security, which in turn underpins national bio security.

Promotion of bio security at the regional level is enhanced through understanding the region, the source and nature of potential threats, and having knowledge of the expertise and resources available to the region. This is supported by a commitment from everyone to implement bio security measures, carry out surveillance and report suspect pests. If farm measures are supported by community based measures, a regional framework for bio security can be coordinated and is achievable.

If you suspect a new pest - report immediately.
